The guy next to Peter is Peter's father. He was few inches shorter than Peter Bailey but his gait and accent were exactly like Peter's. Since they resembled each other quite a lot, I thought he was Peter's brother.

Peter was telling his father how Irene's father planted all those trees on campus long time ago. I assume Irene's father was an Oakwood alumnus.
